Visit trends
What is the Visit trends report?
The Visit trends report allows you to understand footfall traffic trends to your location over time.
This data is available on a weekly or monthly level
How can footfall patterns be tracked?
There are 2 ways to track footfall patterns
-
Using absolute numbers (available only when training data is available) - showing you an estimated number of visits to your locations
-
Using relative figures - often described as benchmarking - comparing the number of visits to each location with the average of either all selected locations put together or every location compared with its own average
This data is available on a weekly or monthly levels

Catchment
How does the Catchment report work?
The Catchment report is showing where your visitors come from, broken down by geographical areas.
You can see the name of each area, what % of visits come from it (Visit share) and its distance from your location (distance is measured from the center of the catchment area).
The total share of visits from all catchment areas sums up to 100%.
Furthermore, the option "market share" shows you how many of the inhabitants of a catchment area visited your location.
You can filter the traffic based on the visitor’s home or work location.
You can also set a visit share threshold to focus on catchment areas that contribute the most or least to your overall visits.

Is the socio-demo profile available in the reports and where can I find it?
Socio-demo profile is available under the Catchment report and this view provides additional information on people living in the catchment area of the analyzed location. Is not the profile of the person being directly in the store, but as we know where people have their home and work location and using GfK (or Whooz in Netherlands) data enrichment, the socio demo profile provides an overview of the number of inhabitants, household living in the catchment area. Additional different segmentations are available for different countries.
\\

Go to the catchment report and click the "Graph" view.
Can I compare socio-demo profiles of the visitors between different locations?
The socio-demo profile is available in the Catchment report, choosing Graph view. Drop down menu allows you to compare different characteristics available for specific countries. Please note, that only a comparison of the locations from the same country is currently available.

Go to the catchment report and click the "Graph" view, then select "Graph" for the comparison.
How can I see if my location is attracting people from abroad?
Catchment analysis is usually defined by a 50km radius providing a very granular view, Postal code _4 or_ 5, neighborhood, or another detailed statistical level available in the respective country. Using a larger radius 300km or 1000km reveals the share of visits related even to countries behind the borders of the analyzed country, but keep in mind that granularity is then on municipality, region, district, or state level. Additionally, you can see visits only for the countries PlaceSense is currently covering: Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria.

Furthermore, you can spot the visits ratio: It shows how many visits are at location B compared to 100 visits at location A.

Other
What is the overall time frame of the report?
The standard data provided covers one year, but 36 months of the the full history is available.
How do you get your data?
We receive raw location data from our numerous sources. This data is being analyzed by using complex factoring and extrapolation algorithms to take the sample (XX% of the population) and analyse the entire population in a specific location. This factoring algorithms gives priority to apps with heterogeneous user bases, so that the population using them are broad and with no specific characteristics.
